CAG Devon is looking for a team of friendly food lovers from across Mid Devon to become volunteer Food Champions and help their friends and neighbours to both eat well and save money. The project will kick off in Tiverton where Food Champions will take part in one of two free “Love Food Hate Waste” training courses from WRAP on either the evening of Tuesday 21 February or daytime Wednesday 22 February.
The training will explain the key reasons why people waste food and include lots of ideas and interactive games to take to events. Food Champions will be given a resource pack full of activities to take away and will be able to borrow displays and equipment from CAG Devon.

Community Action Groups Devon (CAG Devon) is a Mid-Devon project to reduce household waste by supporting communities to come together and share, mend, swap, reduce, re-use and recycle.

CAG Devon Project Co-ordinator, Claire Mountjoy explains, “The average UK household throws away around £470 of food and drink a year, most of which could have been eaten. In Tiverton alone that equals over £4 million a year. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would like to support local people to plan, store and cook better to prevent food waste and save money.”
You don’t need to be a food or cooking expert, just keen to meet and help others by attending local events or giving talks. The project is also searching for confident cooks who are keen to share their recipes and get involved in cookery workshops and community meals using food surplus from shops and supermarkets.

CAG Devon is managed by Resource Futures and supported by Devon County Council and Mid Devon District Council.
To book your place visit the Events page on the CAG Devon website www.cagdevon.org.uk or contact Ruth; ruth.l-williams@resourcefutures.co.uk, 07944791972 or social media @CAGDevon.
