About the Accommodation

The Yarn Market Hotel is situated in the centre of the medieval village of Dunster in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Dunster Castle and Gardens is easily reached, being at the end of the street and the West Somerset Railway’s Dunster Station is close by, where you can catch a steam train to take a 20 mile journey along the coast and through glorious Somerset countryside. There are many events in the local area throughout the year, and the location is perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and wildlife watching, or just for a relaxing break.

The hotel has 28 rooms, all of which are en-suite with television and tea and coffee trays. The superior rooms have either four poster or king size beds, and are more spacious. Most rooms have either a view over the village or the surrounding countryside. Many rooms are dog-friendly where pets are most welcome.

The restaurant is open daily for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and evening dinner and offers a wide variety of meals using local produce whenever possible, served by friendly staff. There is a good wine list and locally brewed beers and ciders are available to accompany your meal.

For walkers there are excellent facilities including a boot and drying room, and maps and guided walk information are readily available together with local knowledge to enable you to make your stay more enjoyable. The long distance South West Coast Path starts just two miles from the hotel as well as the West Somerset Coast path, and it is centrally placed for the Coleridge Way trail. The hotel also specialises in tailor-made packages for walking groups and can assist with advice on routes and with transport. Groups are most welcome and itineraries can be arranged to visit local attractions and gardens. For cyclists there is a storage area for bikes and advice available on routes.

The hotel runs several varied activity breaks during the year including singing, artists painting, folk dancing, jazz and walking holidays. Please look at the website for details of what is offered.

The hotel is non-smoking throughout, and is a member of the Visit Britain Pets Welcome, Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome schemes. It is open all year and offers Christmas and New Year packages.

Parking is unrestricted and free of charge in most of the High Street. On arrival, you are welcome to pull up in front of Reception in order to check in, we can provide complimentary passes for the local car park.
