About the Accommodation

The Hamlet of Old Bridwell in the heart of rural Devon was originally converted from the farm buildings of Lord Mountbatten’s 100 acre Bridwell Park Estate, now refurbished to 5 star 'Visit England’ self catering standards, they are situated in a gated gravelled private courtyard overlooking a beautiful thatched pump house and listed Thatched Cottages.

Each of our 3 bedroomed Cottages are unique with original beams and timbers, some with private enclosed rear gardens, all with private large front patios and private parking for 2 cars.
Many of the Cottages are dog friendly and sleep up to 8 adults, all guests have access to the 3 acre grounds, including the historic listed walled garden, with its cordons of apple trees and espalier of pear and plum trees.
We also have a separate dog walking and play paddock for our guests to enjoy with beautiful views onto the deer park.

We welcome all our guests with a complimentary local hamper, fresh flowers, chocolates and home baked Devonshire Cream Scones.
The cottages kitchens are fully equipped and have high speed free wifi, with tv's and dvd’s in all of the cottages.

Bridwell was named after ‘Brides Well’ a spring that even in the hottest driest summers never dried up, leading to it being known locally according to folklore, as a place where young brides could come to wash in the spring water to help ensure their fertility. Spring Cottage home of the originally spring is named after its historic past, the other cottages Bramley, Rosemary, Orchard and Pipkin and Pumphouse are also named after their pasts as they were used in the traditional cider production from the original once 2000 acre Cider Farm Estate, with the apples being stored in the barns and then pressed using the local spring water before being barrelled and stored in Thatched Cottage.

Conveniently located only 5 minutes from Junction 27 of the M5 and a similar distance from Tiverton Parkway Railway, offering excellent transport links whilst still retaining a tranquil pace of life.

You can book any of our cottages for as long or short a stay as you would like, if you have a large family or group of friends why not book a cluster of our adjacent cottages sleeping up to 40 guests.

You can even book out our thatched pump house and beautiful listed walled garden for a private party of celebration.
With our largest cottages sleeping 8 adults from only £240 per night, £30 per person per night.
